I know there are a lot of 190E enthusiasts on this board, and I'm hoping some of you guys can help me out. I just have a few questions regarding 190's.
-Are there any specific things I should look for if I were to go check out a 190, which was up for sale?
-Are there any specific problems with an 85 190 2.3L?
-What else should I be looking for?
-Do you have any good website for me?
Any help, comments and concerns would be appreciated.
The '85 was the year that they changed the compression ratio on the M102 and got more HP out if it, so that's a plus over the '84. It is also the first full year of production with the dual spray nozzles on the hood.
As for specific model year problems, there really are'nt any, just the ones that apply to the whole model line . . . like the a/c system, the window lifts, rubber parts in the suspension at this age, rust near the jack points.
Cosmetically, the '85 does not have the plastic molding that the later models have, and have the early version of the sealed beam headlights, not the halogen inserts. There's no R/16 resistor to remove and the dash console doesn't have the cassette drawers that the later models had.
