Has anyone run into the following problem?:

My key works to open the door but won't turn at
all when I put it in the ignition. I don't know
whether the key is worn-out or if the ignition
'tumbler' is gone.

Any thoughts.
Re: '86 190e Ignition key problem- the key won't turn
If the problem is the ignition tumbler, a spot of oil should help. If oil doesn't help, the tumbler is probably fine and the ignition lock probably needs to be replaced. We keep the ignition locks in stock.

I have a car similar to yours. I have an old fashioned mechanic to disassembled ´the lock and with the key in the ignition sanded the picks in the lock, so they werent protruding. Since then no problem.
Enjoy the car - probably the greatest car in its size!!!
