I almost forgot I had created this topic on here as well, so, here's a resumed update:
The car has been on a rust-removal process since the beginning of this year.
It's not finished yet, but the main rust spots that have been treated were on:
Passenger side doors;
Opening roof mechanism;
Boot(trunk);
Back window and surrounding areas;
Some more places here and there were touched as well. There was actual new metal welded in into some areas... after that the car also received a primer coat before new paint was applied... some more touches needed but it's close to MUCH better than it was :smile
check and see if there are any rust spots around the rear lights. Mine also had gap probably due to assembly defect or some sort hence water getting into the boot and rear left signal lights.
Those are such good cars! And yours is nearing 1 million km! Looks great!
I miss my 84 190D 2.2 with 5 speed manual trans. 5 speed stick very rare in the States, mostly automatics.
They were slugs with automatic; but completely different car with manual. Fun to drive.
Another gift to the baby-benz
Yesterday was the Gullideckel wheels, today the gear selector wood panel
Before...
After...
Much better now
