After a 30 minute test drive a noticed the front of the hood( when closed) was very hot to the touch. It had a newish OEM insulated hood pad installed.
Not sure where you are in US but considering we are all still in late winter season 100C is way high of a coolant temperature. Mine hardly ever goes above 90c. It rides between 85c-90c. And I have not noticed that my hood get's that hot. I would check the thermostat and your radiator fan as well.
My 2.3 will run 75-80 after its warmed up, here in Pa (winter). After its warmed up to this temperature, I'd have to idle my car for a least 15 minutes to see 100C. My car will only see 100C in long-severe traffic. Like on the interstates around DC.
What color is your car? Black hoods tend to get hotter of course in the sun.
That should not effect your coolant temp though.
