Found these rims for $75/each, will make offer if fits. As much as I like to keep my bb stock, I think these rims would improve look a bit; sorta, give it a little modern look but not too much.
Question is, will the size of 16x7.5 work with our W201? I still like the feel of stock ride so will this change it so much? Sorry, don't now much about tires/rims but I thought I'd start here.
The rims are supposedly to fit E300D, E320, etc from 1996-1999. No offset given.
Any 124 wheels fit the 201.
What concerns me is the fact that scratches bother you but not dents...
Scratches are just cosmetic, dents causes ride vibration. Fixing dents at a decent wheel repair shop will cost around 150 PER wheel.
TBH, i can find a set of those wheels for around $150 on CL. They are as plentiful as the 8 holes.
Love the looks of the monoblocks and I think it's why I like those rims. These rims, if matched with wider and slightly-low profile tire, will add new look to the car. : )
You unlocked my memory pages...hehee... I remember now. When it was time to replace tires on my '96 Jeep, I didn't go with the stock size; I went with slightly wider tires but had to calculate the ratio to maintain the original odometer reading as close as possible. There are tons of internet app to help calculate the numbers now, back then, not so much.
Hey, my 24 year old tire is my homemade rock hard LRR tire. (Had to really penny pinch to purchase the wagon). How are my pressures wrong? I am following the pressures on the gas flap. Gotta stop driving it through drive-thrus! That's definitely got to hurt my average. Don't worry, I'm far behind, and not really planning on competing in regards to MPGs.
I almost bought those wheels before I settled on my 16" BBS wheels. I would have got them but never found any good shape.
Anyway, 205/50/16 tires work perfectly as that is what I've got on my ride. Depending on the offset and ride height/spring setup, you should not rub. I think those come in 41 offset usually but sometimes et37 (more rare).
I think those wheels even come in 17s but will fetch more $$.
205/50/16 gives roughly -1.6% difference in size (compared to 185/65/15), giving an actual 59mph speed when it reads 60mph.
I average 22-23 mpg with mixed spirited driving with my 3.0 liter m103 car.
Good to know one can get such great MPGs, even with the plus ones! Those BBSes are heavy! One guy put a note on my window and ended up selling me a set of them. I still have them because I had them redone at Wheels America...
(Good to hear from you again. I'm afraid I haven't gone back to Bob's since the last "meet-up").
Well, gotta drive to Primm right now. Wife got a comp'd room... Have a great Labor Day Weekend if I don't drop by sooner!

Closer examination of pic reveals what appears to be a chip on the rim. Not sure how significant that is or how that's even possible.
If the rims came with tires even if 1/4th thread left, I wouldn't offer as low as I did. Saw another ad which looks like similar rims with good tires for $300, unfortunately, not the style I'm after.
I'm sure something will come up again...will just keep looking. : )
Those 15" AMG mini monos must be very rare. I'd love to have a set of those. I think our W201 will be fine with +1 rims and any bigger may require some mod.
Javelin, you still haven't given up? And here I thought you were a MPG crazed person..... Best of luck! Ever thought of trying to search www.car-part.com?

While I don't want keyless entry, I would like to add a central locking switch (where the fader switch sits). Right now, when people get out of the car or I need to unlock a door for someone to get in, I have to open my door to unlock it, or unlock my side so I can lock it again after someone has gotten out.
It's not as bad in the W126, because I can actually just pull up the pin on my side and push it back down. But in these cars they sit flush inside the top of the door panel, and I kinda prefer that look.

That's doable and a great idea. Maybe you can replace it with a mini push-button switch(optional LED) for your central locking system.
I've re-purpose my fader switch cables for my new radio, and now, I may have a reason to replace it. hmmm
