there's no button on the end of my parking brake, so I bought one from FCP Euro. (Finally a parts supplier that isn't thousands of miles away!) It strikes me, however, before I put it on that it should have some sort of spring. It did not come with one. Is there supposed to be a spring that sits inside the e-brake button for when I snap it onto the metal rod inside the lever?
Dumb question but it strikes me as worth asking...and I've seen some pics of cars with a spring sticking out, but they weren't 190s. So I'm not sure...
Unfortunately, I do not. I went to a PNP and got the button and the spring because mine were missing. Alternatively, you could pull the button out when you pull the handle up. Then push it down like normal to release.
For what it's worth, I replaced my old broken handle (internal mechanism jammed) with a new one. I have a spring sitting around from the old one. I could mail it to you if you want, should only cost a stamp and an envelope.
That would be great! There aren't too many junkyards around here that save cars older than MY 2000 so it has been hard to find. Also, the dealer doesn't know which spring to order and it would cost me more in gas to drive there than the spring is worth. I thought about Home Depot but then you run the risk of buying something that doesn't work right.
