1990 190e sunroof cable and tube.

My sunroof messed up so I took the inside and outter top cover off. I cleaned the guides and sliders up.I found when looking in between the headliner and roof, the cable had jumped out of the tube. It was half looped laying up their. I pushed the motor button and the cable is in now inside the tube. I put the roof back together but still have the inside sunroof liner off.I can slide the roof by hand and I can move it back and forward so maybe it is ok. I can look inside back their and see the tube bolted up with 2 small bolts. I see on the rear sunroof cross bar 2 holes with threads for bolts. And at the end of the tube where it comes to the sunroof their is a small offset plate and one of the holes lines up with one of the threaded bolt holes but their was no bolt in it so the end of the tube was just hanging their.
I was opening the roof to slide it open ( back ) and went down a driveway and I hit the up ( tilt)while I still was opening it to go back , and the cable jumped. So do I just need a cable or do I need a tube also, or can I squeeze the tube closed some and just replace or try to see if cable will still work.

I have PDFs on sunroofs but not like what I have. I only had time today to take it apart and clean things up. It is all back together but not the inside sunroof liner or I did not hookup tube and or cable. I maybe missing something where the cable or tube hooks to the sunroof to pull it back and foward. The end of the cable is in the tube end. I worked the motor button to pull the cable back into the tube, but I did not try to see if it would go foward yet. I ran out of daylight. I will not be able to get back working on it until a few days.

Well I did find a download PDF for my car with the section on sunroof. The pics are not very good. Very dark like most PDF manuals. I should be able to try to pull the cable out to inspect. Looks like the cable screw to the sunroof fell out and is hiding in their somewhere too.

I got back out to the car this morning. With the cable not connected to roof, I can slide open and close the roof. I can also move the rear cross bracket forward and the rear of the roof will tilt open. I am spraying wd-40 on the tracks to loosen things up and cleaning the dust out of everything. So It looks like the roof will work fine so far, I will pull out the cable and inspect it. I have worked the motor so that should work ok also. It looks so far like the top of the tubing opening , opened up some and the cable jumped out . It may need a new cable and tube.

It looks like I need to take gear drive cover off the motor to unjam the cable and looks like the cable is damaged. Or I think it will be no good when I get it out. I do not want to have to take the headliner down.

I did not see in the manual clear as to what part or all had to be taken out to remove the cable housing.
Looks like I have to take the plate and gears off the motor to get the cable out.
