Cypress. My icon doesnt light up. How do I run a fiber optic cable to it? Are there extra ones inside the dash area where i can just run it over or do I have to do it? Do tell...thanks.
There won't be extra fiber optic cables behind the dash area, you'll need to get one from JY. The other end inserts into that white fan wheel on the back of instrument cluster..see pic. All the switches on the "dash" are lit this way.
NOTE: some pics shown are quick photoshop pics from/of the finished product.
You'll need a dremel with steel cutting blade & long nose pliers.
pic1 - make template of the chrome reflector.
pic2 - template of chrome reflector.
pic3 - use dremel & cut/remove the "4" tabs indicated by red arrows.
pic4 - 4 tabs removed, all you see is the lip around the reflector.
pic5 - center smaller yellow reflector over template.
- use marker, mark the "6" cut lines on the lip.
- black out the "2" notch areas to be removed later.
pic7 - use long nose pliers, bend the "2" blacked out pieces of the lip down flat & use dremel to cut/remove completely.
- than use long nose pliers, bend down flat the "4" white pieces of the lip.
pic8 - final result. touch up with paint to prevent future rusting.
- repeat process for the other end.
Pulled up to a store front, wife comments that my headlights are too yellowish (reflected from the store front's glass).
Told her those are my DRLs, turned on the headlights to show her that headlights are pretty white, she agrees....BUT I also noticed the yellowish DRLs are showing also. So added a relay to turn DRLs off when headlights are on.
Also, finally hooked up the light for the vacuum headlight level adjust.
