1986 190E 2.3 16V (Pricing)

Hello all:

I'm a newbie here and will be picking up a 1986 190E 2.3 16V next week.
What is the price range should I be looking to paid?

1 owner car with clean car fax.
84k miles.
everything works on the car.
Test drove it and seems little loud but for 23 year old car it should be okay.
Clutch good (not slipping)
No rust, body is straight with no dent (AZ car)

Any advice would be helpful.

Thank You!

How much is the owner asking? Prices vary quite a bit.

pics? maintenance records?

check the engine bay to make sure it wasn't hit and repaired, carfax isn't always accurate

for what you have said, at least 5k

Checked the engine bay (no accident) They are asking $9900 but I was able to get it down to $8300. Please type in this number 320464516228 on ebay and check it out.

Thanks!

looks real clean obviously over shined due to trying to sell it, but hood pad is shot, some minor cracks in the plastic where the control buttons are, normally 8300 would be a bit much, but they are probably using Edmunds as a pricing guide hence their asking price. if it's what you want go for it and welcome to the family

It is what I want but not able to decided and acutally I'm a bid confuse on if I should get it or not. I did alot of research on it and found this forum. This is very helpful. Would you buy it for that price?

me personally no i wouldn't as i think it's overpriced, AND i have yet to buy a car from a dealer because they over shine, over detail a car. some places have been know to temp fix bad things just to sell it.

it took me 6 months of looking but i picked up a 16v with a custom paint job for 5k that had 69k on it.
either way
don't be in a rush to buy a 190e or any other car. take your time look for what you want, when it feels right to you then decide at that time weather or not the price is right

That is a real nice car, judging from the pictures I believe the mileage. Interior is exceptionally clean, black door trims are no longer available from MB ($300 a piece), wooden panels can be fixed, plastic trims can still be replaced. Leather seats are still original & scuff marks can be repaired. Undercarriage looks good, engine bay looks good. Exterior looks good, all panel gaps are even, lines all straight. Even the trunk looks good. That does look like original & untouched car.

Make sure:
1. Rear self leveling suspension is working, check by putting some heavy loads in the rear & see if it rises up / not. Repair cost is $$$.
2. Check exhausts has no rust, again complete set is $2000.
3. Check how engine starts (cold / hot).
4. Check how it idles, if steady at 850RPM then all is good.
5. Test drive, see if the engine still pulls like a train & responsive.

If everything checks out the $8500 is a good price, considering paint is original & one owner car. Let us know how it turns out. Looks like a gems to me.

It depends on how much you want it if you'll pay that much. I can detail mine and it will look that good in pictures. Until you see it in person don't go by the pictures. For a $9k asking price the interior has way too many flaws. It's got a dash cover which almost always means dash cracks. Swaps are easy but that interior is far from immaculate as described. I'd want the original wheels, all service history, owner history, etc. if I was paying $9k. $7K is a reasonable offer as it's pictured in my opinion.
