So I have a 87 190d and looks like the tranny is done. Question is what can replace it? Any 190 gas or diesel or are the diesels geared different? And any other tranny? Or any c-class for an upgrade?

is your car really beat up or in very good condition? probably best to rebuild your transmission. If you are in the SF bay area then I can recommend a great shop that will modify your tranny properly and for a good price. They charged me ~1900. Modified my 190E 2.6 tranny and the car is much much faster now on pick up compared to a stock one. The gear ratios were changed for quicker pick up.

i really want this car running again. its a 2.5 diesel. and im in fair oaks, by sacramento. would any gas tranny go right in? and its just the modulator that needs to be changed?

its slipping in 4th, but it feels like its a vacuum. ive changed all the old lines, and still the same. the only thing i have not changed is the mod.

here is a pic before the tranny went out.... :(
