I'd like to improve my headlights. Can I purchase Halogen bulbs and install these within the existing headlights or do I need to purchase entirely new Halogen headlights?
The headlights are square; original factory equipment.
there are 3 types of stock ones.
1. stock Euros
2. 84-86 NAM lights with the sealed beams
3. 87-93 NAM lights look like euros but headlight is slightly recessed.
+1 for buying euro headlights. The main difference is the beam pattern gives you much better visibility.

so, I would have to purchase the headlights; the bulb replacement would not work?
you can but it wont help, these cars already have halogen lights but the fluting on the HL lenses are square and the euro ones have a X pattern in them. i mean you can put HID's into the NAM lights but its a waste of money and you will get flashed for it.. save the money and spend them on euros. then put hids into those.. your car already has halogen bulbs. i think most headlight bulbs are halogen. someone correct me if im wrong
