Battery for 190E 2.6 (1993)

Hello all,

I'm looking for the right battery for my 190E 2.6 (year 1993). Unfortunately, my regular mechanic has moved, so I'm trying to get all the basics myself. I've read my owner's manual several times but the only battery info I found there is 12 V/ 62 Ah. Local dealers do have batteries for my model but they're quite expensive, so I'm exploring ways to cut costs by buying a "generic" but good battery. (I've already had an incident with a defective one from Wal-mart.)

So, can anyone please share what I need to look for in terms of:
Group size
Preferred brand or store (right now I'm down to NTB and Advance Auto Parts)
Reserve capacity (we do get cold winters here in MA)
CCA

I'll be grateful for any helpful info!

Obviously, Mercedes doesn't build their own batteries, they are built by one of the major suppliers. In the US, I believe that they use or used Johnston Controls' Interstate battery in the new cars. Since Interstate batteries do go on sale from time to time, you might want to check around where those are sold.

My car has had several interstate batteries in it's lifetime. They usually last a long time. This is the one I have
Interstate Batteries - Automotive / Truck - Mercedes Benz - 190E 2.6 - Mega-Tron Plus - 85 Months - 700 CCA
Interstate can tell you where local sellers are.

I have what 355 has as well. With the complimentary vent pipe that we both got from Interstate for free to help drain the battery acid away from the car. My battery is going on 7 yrs old now. Still running strong. Not many batteries can last this long from the desert temps of Las Vegas to the cold temps of Reno, Nevada and San Francisco,CA.

Forgot to mention that Mercedes Benz batteries in the US are made by Interstate Batteries.

Here's a pic of the vent pipe that Interstate will give you. When you first get it, it's not long enough, so I attached a piece of plastic tubing to make it drain better. I went w/ RunninRebel to the local Interstate battery dealer (we have one in the Bay Area) and picked it up.

Thanks Guys, I know what it looks like now.

Thanks Runninrebel, I'll ask my cousin 1st, his shop sells Interstate batteries.
They drop off six of those slow charge battery chargers to him for free & my cousin gave me one.
