A machining is not optional. If we dig into the head by removing it to replace tappets, it is penny wise and pound foolish to reseat and bolt down an unmachined head. Plus, we'll get a view of the engine block to see if anything there needs review and replacement. A machine shop usually takes no more than two weeks to machine the head and check/replace all its parts.

Well, this means that the car will not be finished on that day. It will basically be a day to disassemble the head from the looks of it. Maybe we should just focus on the tappets and leave the head removal for another occasion. What do you think?
Oh, today I got dark smoke coming out of the exhaust while filming the clip you requested.

I intended to focus on the valve train especially the tappets and not do the head yet. I would strongly urge delivering the car to the Jersey GTG for a complete disassembly on 7/25.
Sudden dark blue exhaust is a result of pooling of fuel which dissolves motor oil and comes out as a blue black smoke. Not having seen the car and not having heard it run leaves me without an idea of where this is coming from.

When you say valve train, what is it exactly what will do?

In my view, I see a careful looking, feeling and listening taking place. We will check for over-pressurized hoses, discolored spark plugs and loose fuel line parts to include the gas cap. We will test drive the car, take sharp turns and accelerate and decelerate the motor.
My suspicion is we will compare my 8v's operation and will spot differences in engine noise. We will disassemble and inspect areas producing noise. While in the upper engine, we will check the tappets. I suspect these will be defective.
Whatever we find, we will either swap on the spot or pick up from the dealer.
