last year a storm came threw and knocked a limb off a tree. and of course were dose it land? right through my windshield. not only did it bust my windshield but it screwed up my hole dash it now sits half an inch lower than it should. so i am going to replace it or repair it. does anybody know were i could get a replacement i live in Carroll country MD
to replace it? not too bad to do. replaced mine a few months ago. just fuck that speedo cable
+2 The speedo cable was the biggest headache, fuck it. I said if I were to remove the dash again I'd remove the speedo cable from the tranny so there would be more play on the top.
There's that son of a bitch...
All the bolts, vents and buttons removed. You can get it out without taking the wheel off, I broke the window getting the new one in though. I blame it on the speedo cable and frustration.

Oh man this looks nasty. Good luck to you. Im sure when its done it will be awesome. While you have the instrument panel out- you might as well check the solder contacts behind the one for the gas gauge. Mine broke from years of long distance road vibrations. Just reheat the contact and that's it. Save you the trouble of pulling it out again. Which is what I have to do. I too hate that damn speedo cable. BITCH!

+1.... and while you're there, change the bulbs, wipe the two green turn arrows (from inside using a wet cotton swab) and change the bulbs (aged bulbs has a dark smoked inside... Don't aske me why)
Greasing the odometer and tripmeter is another job that can be kept for a later time, unless you have a problem with them
On a side note, I can't stress much on a the proper dismantling and re-installation of the speedo cable (always, dismantle the tranny side first before start pulling the inst. cluster out). Without proper cable installation, you'll start digging its grave, you'll notice that it started to be bouncy which is the first sign of almost siezed cable. Bouncy cables are a major cause of faulty speed readings sent to the cruise control amplifier which means intermittent CC operation
What items are advisable to replace while the dash is out?
My reason is to replace the climate control vacuum elements (4). Will order the heater control valve either from AutohausAZ or dealer. AutohausAZ says it's updated one and may require modification. Anybody run through this issue?
Also on my list to replace is the instrument cluster LED display for outside air temp (already have one waiting to be installed). I might get new AC vents too but they're easier to replace (no need to get dash out).
One big thing I am doing is updating the center console stack to updated design (1 piece climate control wood instead of 2 with strip on top for blower motor control). With that I am going to install the Euro map pocket as well.
