190E - 180E confusion

If i have a manual 190E 1.8 litre imported from Germany, ...does that mean its actually a 180E and not a 190E?? If not..then what is a 180E?

Furthermore, anyone know what kind of mileage i can get from the 1.8 litre engine with 228000kms? i just bough the car about 2 months ago and will be methodically changing the oil every 5000km brake fluid flush every year, transmission flush every 2 years?? Are these engines up to par with the 2.3's and 2.6's in term of reliability?

The 2.0 is "faster".

The same engine came in three flavors I believe...1.8, 2.0 and 2.3 with a corresponding increase of CC.

Hate to be the bearer of further bad news, but it seems that the 1.8L 190E got WORSE gas mileage than the 2.0L, but quite nice at 26+ MPG average. The 1.8 (1797cc) uses a shorter piston stroke and puts out 108 bhp, compared to the 118 bhp 2.0L.

0-60 in 12
Top speed is 120 mph

Final drive ratio 3.46

so does that mean that any engine mods made for the 2.3 can be installed on the 1.8 without any custom modification??

Unless you have a donor car, complete with the wiring loom and electrics, you'll be better off selling the 1.8L and buying a 2.6L six.

Turbocharge it. Or even better, detail and sell it as a unique Benz and buy a 2.6. Gas mileage wise there will hardly be any difference. Performance wise definitely an improvement.

For the cost of doing that . . . he could buy a 2.6L and a 2.3-16.
