How much is it? Does it just slide in the way this slid out? I suppose I have to pay extra to have the new mechanism "keyed" to match my key? I suppose I'm looking at over $100 for everything?
Thanks! My internet service has been down the last couple of hours, so I went ahead and tried it before I got your response and was succesful! Funny thing is, that with ALL the complaints I read about this common issue all over the Mercedes internet forums, I only found one message that even hinted at this FREE solution
Are all year W201 door locks interchangeable?
Also, if I got a door lock from a junked car, can I remove the pieces I need (such as spring, roll pin, etc.) and transfer them over to my broken lock cylinder to make it whole again?
Looks good on your car, but mine is white. I don't think there would be too much of a difference visually. Besides, until I get around to installing keyless entry, I'd like to have a "back-up" lock just in case the one I put in the driver's door fails again (as they are likely to do ). My driver's door lock had already been repaired once before.
I guess I just want everything on this car to work. Right now, the passenger door lock is the only non-functioning item on the car!
