replacing 'Sacco' lower body panels on '93 W201

hi,

i was stuck in traffic tonight, and some a-hole in a Local Council truck seemed to brush past my back bumper, and i heard a scraping noise. i stopped the car and got out, and checked around the rear valance/bumper.
there was a slight scuff, it was raining and traffic was heavy so i got back in the car and drove home. however, i got home to discover that the truck had actually scraped along my rear wheel-arch, and torn off the short piece of "Sacco" panel between the rear door and rear wheel arch (on the driver's side). i went back to the scene and retrieved the piece(s) as this part had been crushed several times by passing cars.

my panels are body-coloured (568 Signal Red) as is the rest of the car, and the Part Code printed on the inside is: 201 690 60 40 R PEBRA

anybody know if these can be ordered new, painted from M-B?

if it helps, i'll post pictures asap...

I believe you're referring to the Rear Dog Leg piece of trim. Yes, they sell this piece, but my stealership only had it available in primer gray/white, for around $120. I would then have had to get it painted for another $80.

Do what I did and search local bone yards, I had to wait about 4 months for a car to come in that had the right color, but I was able to pick one up for $35. For me, the wait was worth the savings.

RE: replacing 'Sacco' lower body panels on '93 W201

went to my local MB salvage guy today, i scored a Dog-Leg Panel from a two-tone red 190E (so it needs to be painted to match my panels) and also replaced the front interior light assembly (it had blown) and got a new MB Heritage badge on the grille frame (i snapped the last one when i removed it to paint the original plastic grille mesh black) all for the princely sum of...

£50.00 GBP (approx $90.00)

result!
