Post Where To Get An A Class In The USA or Mexico?!

So,

I'm a proud owner of a 300E Merc, I'm young, 19 to be exact, love Mercs a lot... even the coach mercs and military truck mercs I see sometimes driving around my town.

Recently I've talked with my parents about them getting a new car.
My dad likes VW Golfs, my mom likeS Mini Coopers... I like Mercs so I said "Hey why not get a Merc! They're smooth, classy, built to last!"

the answer was: "They're too expensive" (C-Class in Mexico is $35,00)

So I searched around and found the B-Class and A-Class to be fairly inexpensive in terms of US Dollars (and by inexpensive I mean reachable)

Soooo

I don't know to get one of these A-Class benzies in the States or Mexico.

I really don't know much about them in terms of specs, history, why they're not sold here in the states or in Mexico?

I would love to get my mom to drive a benz, she'll love the A-class!

Any info on how to get one here? and specs? MSRP?

Short answer: you cant have an A-Class.

Canada gets the B Class and in fact I had mine in LA just over a week ago. One person I know of has managed to register a Canadian B Class in CA: Benzworld member CA-B200 in southern California. This member has the information needed to register the B Class in California. The CDN market car meets US 45 state standards out of the box.

I gather it was a total fluke, but you could ask her how she did it. The CDN market car meets US 45 state standards out of the box.
any reason why the A-class isn't available here? The smart car is, and that's smaller =O

The first generation W168 A-Class was available in Mexico but not the new one apparently. I gather it's because Daimler stopped assembling the A-Class at their Brazilian assembly plant in 2004. Importing the German one was probably judged too expensive for the Mexican market to bear.

It would probably also destroy the "Like no other" luxury car reputation Mercedes-Benz has built in the US. You notice how far MB distances itself from smart cars!

You know you're German if:
You went to school in a Gymnasium
You check your shoes for candy on December 6
You have real candles on your Christmas tree
You know a Frankfurter is a person not a hotdog
Schnitzel with noodles is your favorite meal, not a song in a cheesy musical!
You drive the Autobahn in a Mercedes-Benz at the speed of sound!
