I have no info about the sound system, but would like to say that the A160-A180-A200 CDI cars share the same engine, and are not noisy at all. Inside at least :-). At idle you can hear some diesel rattle.
Thanks Michael. Drove a A180CDI today and it was quiet enough but i was vibrating when the car was idling at the traffic lights. When I drove the A170 it was smoother, but seem to have less power.
I would choose the A180CDI if I were you. I have the A160CDI, but if economy had permitted I would have chosen the more powerful engine. But they all are very good cars. Just be aware the the pre-07 models have some serious rust problems. Pick an early 07 or later and you should be fine.
Its hard to pinpoint exactly what models are rust affected, the only way to tell is by checking the door seams.
The cars built prior to June 2006 (i.e. 05/06 Model Year cars) will have a corrugated seam:
Wheras cars built after this date will have smooth seams:
Unfortunately you can't tell by the registration plate as some cars sit arround for a long time before been registered.
As for which engine to get, most would consider the A150 and A180CDI to be the best all-rounders. The smaller A160CDI diesel is slow, and the larger A200CDI is gruff when pushed. With the petrols the A170 offers little performance over the A150, and the A200 is good but uses a lot of fuel. Its also worth noting that in 2008 the A200 petrol and A200CDI were discontinued, and in 2009 the A150 petrol was renamed A160 and the A170 petrol was renamed A180.
Thanks for that information. I spoke with the dealer about it and he assured me that it was covered in the 30 year anti perforation warranty.
Thanks
Forum discussions on the German forums indicate otherwise. Some owners have to argue with their dealers, and some get doors replaced within warrenty if car has been maintained according to service schedule at authorized dealers. Some have had their doors repainted, which is NOT a satisfactory repair. I have also read that the 30-year warranty covers rusting through main body members, doors are not regarded as body members. Also seams on the whole car body could be affected, and a satisfactory is not possible.
Be careful, check the door seams very carefully. Better avoid pre-07 cars.
Good luck,
Michael

Not wanting to be rude but you keep saying that and its simply not true. I have a 56-reg which is not affected, but at the same time I've seen 07-reg cars that are affected. It depends when the car was built, not when it was registered. Its not uncommon for some of these cars to sit arround for months or even years before been registered.
The only way to tell is to get hold of the build date, and make sure its after June 2006, or to simply look at the door seams to see if they are the new type. You never know, the 05 A200 the OP is looking at could have had the doors replaced already.
