I don't think you can drain, as there is no drain plug AFAIK. You could certainly syphon out the contents, but it will be some left, and only a small amount of petrol in the diesel could destroy your injectors. The correct thing to do is to take out the tank and rince it properly with diesel.
I assume that you have filled petrol in your diesel..
Used a plastic airline fed it in to the tank syphoned out the Petrol.
Into a 5 gallon drum so i could measure the amount, which worked well as the fuel stopped running it was approximately the 4 gallon the wife put in, then i added 4 gallon of clean diesel and syphoned that out.
Filled the tank to the brim and switched ignition on and off several times to activate the electric pump to flow and return. Started engine and let i tick over for an hour, took it for a run up and down steep hills, done about 40miles with no problems so far. I've ordered a filter and will change the filter today.
I'll let you know how i get on.
On reflection i could have disconnected in the engine bay then trick the ecu by switching ignition on and off a few times and pump the feul out then change the filter and reconnect bleed and run.
Seems you got away with it . How much diesel was in the tank before the petrol was added, and did you drive the car home on diesel/petrol mix after realizing the mistake?
There has been a lot of hysteria about this here in Norway, some dealers even say one has to replace the fuel tank (!) to avoid damage to the injector system or engine.
