I AM FROM THE U.K AND HAVE STARTING TO SEE COROSION/PAINT FLAKING ON A 56 PLATE WITH ON 40,000 MILES FROM NEW ONLY , RUST IS ON BOTH DOORS , HAD CAR NEW 25 MTHS FROM DELIVERY MILEAGE, HAVE TAKEN CAR TO MERCEDES DEALER OTHER DAY , HAVE TO WAIT TO SEE OUTCOME , HAS ANYBODY HEARD OF THIS ON A YOUNG A CLASS, AND WHAT WAS THE OUTCOME ETC...?? I AMWARE OFF IT ON B CLASS THOUGH. HAVE POSTED PICS OF THE DOOR AND PAINTWORK IN THE NEW MEMEBER INTRODUCTION UNDER NEW UK MEMBER , THANKS FOR LOOKING , AND ANY REPLIES ON THIS MATTER WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED INDEED

That rust is terrible for a less than 3 year old car, I would be straight to the dealers to have them repair it under warranty - I don't see how they can refuse...!?
They will repair it under warranty, no doubt about that. The cars are protected for 30 years against corrosion.
Apparently there is a problem that affect 2006/2007 A/B Class Mercedes. The motoring press in the UK havent said anything, but it has been reported in Germany.

HI , THANKS FOR REPLY APPRECIATED , I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE ACCESS TO MORE INFORMATION ON THE GERMAN REPORTS DEALING WITH THIS ISSUE TO LOOK AT , HAS ANYONE HAVE INFO WHERE TO LOOK ? I AM 99 % ASSUMEING THEY WILL FIX IT , BUT THERE IS ALWAYS THAT UNCERTANITY THEY MAY COME UP WITH SOME EXCUSE ETC.. , THIS VEHICLE PAINT IS SUPAGARDED TOO. THANKS

MERCEDES RANG TODAY, TO BOOK IN CAR FOR REPAIR , BUT EVEN IF THEY REPAIR DOORS ONLY , THIS WILL BE ONLY TEMP SOLUTION TO COVERING OVER UNDERLYING PRODUCTION MANUFACTURING ERRORS ,I FEAR THE RUST WILL RETURN , I AM PUSHING FOR REPLACEMENT DOORS , WHICH THEY WOULD DO IF CORRODED BAD ENOUGH THROUGH?? I wouldnt worry too much about it as you are protected by the 30-year anti-corrosion warranty incase it does happen again. If they are repiaring them correctly I doubt the problem will re-occur.
As for a courtesy car, you should be entitled to one as your A180 is less than 3-years old. Usually it states in the terms that they have to give you one when your car is in for warranty work.
I think you might be better of phoning arround a few other Mercedes dealerships and seeing what they say.

In Canada, all of the rusty doors are replaced and not repaired. This problem is well known and being addressed at the highest level. Go to the Regional rep and then higher if not completely satisfied.
Show some pics from the inside of the door edge. Some of those pics could be from curb rubs also.
Hold the camera parallel to the door edge to keep all in focus if possible.
