Hi all!
I'm Andrea from italy and i've a MB A180CDI Classic.
My question could seems stupid but i don't know how to close the external mirrors. I don't know if they are electronic or manual; the car is imported from Germany and it's guide is in deutsch language so i can't translate it!
Probably they are manual because i can't find any button that close them; perhaps if i try to close them manually, they are so hard to close.
Hi Andrea, if the non-folding electric mirrors of the A-Class are like those of the Canadian B-class, they are very difficult to fold, and after they are re-positioned so you can use them again, they do not feel as "tight" any more. I think maybe they're not intended to be folded except in an emergency.

If the mirrors are not electric folding then they only fold in the event of something hitting them hard like a pedestrian or metal pole. They are not rigid for this reason. It causes less injury or damage if they yield.
You can force them to fold but that is not intended to be used on a regular basis as the clip which holds them out is not designed for use in this way.

I too had the same question (a couple of posts below your own)!
My A Class mirrors don't fold either. It's a real disappointment.
If MB have already designed and manufactured folding parts, would have it been so much trouble to fit an inexpensive spring instead of a motor? I never thought to ask about this 'feature' before buying the car, as these days you just assume that wing mirrors fold!
I'm toying with the idea of obtaining a scrap electric assembly, and modifying it to fold manually (and hopefully avoiding invalidating my warranty by not touching the electrics). The car is just too wide for my drive with the driver's mirror out...
I picked this up when I saw the first W169 at my branch , I couldn't believe they didn't fold and nor could the salesman who nearly wrecked the car trying.
I would also have to fold them in as the W169 is slightly wider than my w168 no the 169 can stay where it is in the showroom.
I already altered the gates to get the w168 through I'm not doing it again any way I'm not that impresssed with the 169 to want to change ,168 's only got 43,000 on the clock
