I hope you can help with this really annoying problem.
I have recently bought this 10 year old car, all seemd really nice, but after two days the car started stalling at lights, losing power when driving uphill. Everything happened rather occassionally, and always when engine was warm.
The last owner who seems decent and honest enough, said they never had any problems with the car. We took it to a garage and had it thoroughly checked. Spark plugs, cables, air and fuel filters etc, though nothing was found. People from the garage now think it is probably the Air Flow Sensor fault, which apparently is an expensive part and someone said it only comes together with the ECU.
I'm not an expert and don't really know what the problem is, but I have read a lot on the internet and am willing to agree it might be the Air Flor Sensor.
Today I was driving the car and noticed the air temperature is always shown as 33.3 C, so the sensor is obviously broken, as I'm in the UK and the temperature is usually between 5 and 15 degrees at this time of the year.
It got me thinking, maybe this sensor together with the Air Flor Sensor is used to tell the ECU how much fuel is needed, and the whole problem might just be due the temperature sensor's fault. I shall add that the fuel consumption has been ridicilously high as well.
As I said my knowledge of cars is very limited, but hope my theory does make some sense. It might have not happened to the previous owner, as the temperature is getting lower and lower now and the air more and more humid, so maybe they didn't have problems like that.
I hope somebody with knowledge of this car and experience, can give me some advice please
It really does sound as though ur ecu is playing up. I can help you to get it sorted much cheaper than the cost of a new one .let me know if you need help and i will be happy to help you ...Gerold
