A Class 170 CDI not stable on bends, curves, skids across road
Hi
Can someone point me in the right direction. My A class 2001 a170 CDI 98000 miles skids across the road on bends and curves even ar low speed like 40mph or so. Is this suspension related or what can i have looked at for possible replacement?
I hope this is not a daft question, does anybody know any parts or components which cause this,The tyres are excellent with plenty of tread, no knocks or rattles from ball joints or when braking.
Tyre pressures, trailing arm bushes worn, driving to fast for the road conditions!
also you need to watch your ESP/abs light on the dash that a good indicator that the car is loosing traction at which point tthe ESP /ABS should kick in so if it's not check firstly that it is switched on, then if it doesn't kick in have it checked out
no point in having 'electronic stability programme' if it doesn't work same with Active braking system.
I do have the ASR button, if i switch it on , it doesnt stay on after sometime especially high speeds. Does the ASR Button help in traction control. The car has ESP , as the light shows on the dash with all other lights before starting the car, however when car skids nothing lights up on the dash. If something is wrong does the ESP/ABS have to light up? say when the skidding happens? I also looked for the sticker to show the required tyre pressures, i didnt see one. Whats the correct tyre pressure for wheel size 190/50/15?
I have answered the question which it appears is not listed ,
yes the ABS/ESP is all part of the traction control of the car, it should be switched on at all times and stay on if its not then you have a problem which you should be investigated
when on ice with one wheel spinning you will get a gunning sound which is the brakes coming on & off, switch the ESP/ABS off and you will delete the programes from operating which is obviously why your car is doing what it is. normally these systems should be left on all the time
However these system were not put their to corrrect driving errors as I previoulsy said if your loosisng the back end when cornering etc either have a tyre problem or your going to fast for the road conditions.
