W168 mafs water damage following repair

There have been a number of cases of water getting into W168ECU/MAFS casings following repair, at this point it is unclear how the water got into the casing, it could be via high pressure washing of the engine bay or even steam cleaning, from my own experience of the car I don't think it's due to climatic conditions as my engine bay stays dry throughout however you may know different .

It has come to light that one company has been drilling a hole in the casing as part of their repair procedure this it appears is allowing water to get into the casing. two have been written off this month alone by water damage.
