Remote central lock problem

Hi everyone, I'm new to A class. I bought a W168 two months ago but only drive for three weeks in max....because too many problems with the car.

Last week I took the car back from garage, when I back home I found that the central lock is now working.

the central lock button inside the car did work... when I press it locks all door and unlock all doors, but when I press the remote lock button, nothing happen.

then I sit inside the car and try to press the remote lock button, I heard that the central lock come up with some noise but just didn't move the lock.

If I manually lock all door and press the remote lock button, i can see the light from inside come up... it means there is no problem with the remote signal.

I follow Lofty's great A class page, tested the battery on remote, works fine.

also now when I start driving the door didn't auto lock, it used to auto lock.

Please help..........

I also search from other post, some problem is caused by the pump. But in my case, if the pump is faulty, the central lock button inside the car will not work either, am I correct? If so, can I assume there's no problem with the pump??? instead should I check something else?

Andy the central locking facility is very complex it can be changed just by holding the two buttons on the remote down together and also by pressing and holding the cetral locking button below the hazard warning switch when you press and hold that you will hear a bleep that means you have changed the locking procedure , so I supect you have altered the setting while playing with buttons try playing with it again and see if you can re-set to lock on all doors you can't do any harm
Be cause of this don't let anybody else play with the keys either, children for instance they will cause utter mayhe, same applies to the gear lever, don't shunt it around while the car is stationary or again you can cause problems .

If you hear the sound of the pump working for 5-15 seconds but not locking/unlocking, the cause can be a leak in the thin gum membranes in a vacuum unit located near each lock.

In my case it was the vacuum element situated in the boot door the cause of the problem. Check that at Lofty's page Bert Rowe's-mercedes-Benz 'A'-class info. 5th Door (Boot Lid Locked, Jammed Closed), little picture under the subtitle "The boot lock".
