Ok, i was testing the car again with the diagnostic system. Now i found out that i can actually connect to the FTC (front transmission control unit). But it seems it doesnt wanna connect there every time (maybe because of a problem with the FTC module?).
There was about 10 error codes there, after i cleared them, the eps/bas light went off, and the transmission went out of limp mode.
After test driving about 5-10 mins the eps/bas light came on again and also transmission limp-mode. So i guess i can turn my suspicions out of the eps system..
Where is exactly the FTC module located in this car?
Also one of the codes was "p1895 N15/7 control module faulty", does this mean the FTC module or is it something else?
The other codes were all related to CAN bus somehow..
Thanks in advance for helping with this..
hi
sounds like you have a moule problem what diagnosis equipment are you useing ?
the module is located in the transmission sump imagine all the complicated electonics immersed in transmission oil no wonder they fail at such an alarming rate do a compleat system check of all the electonics on the car note or print codesthen clear and road test the car pay attention to which happens first :eps/bas or the f light also reinisialise the stearing sensors before road test think lofty mentioned it before hard lock from oneside to the other with the engine running before road test
the problem with <can> communication is that all the systems involved will default if another goes down late vaxhalls are a classic they can start with an engine misfire(faulty plug /lead) which the engine picks up and then shuts down 5 other ecu`s with codes like engine ecu failure /torque signal not recived esp(electronic stability program failure and it goes on etc)
all the systems use information from others like throttle setting for the transmisssion are borrowed from the engine ecu road speed is used from the abs system and so it goes on
hth
roberlea: Thanks for the information. I actually did suspect that the ftc was there, since we had the valvebody out one time but i just couldn't believe all the electronics of it could be there.. It's just a shame that it's not possible to open it to see if the oil has leaked in.
We use the X-431. I suspected maybe the FTC has bigger problems, since it wouldn't even connect to the diag. device every time.
x431 can be very fickle when getting into the ftc so wouldnt read too much into that
Does this apply just on mercs or other cars as well? I mean, it worked fine on the other ones we've tested including TCU:s.
Well, in any case i think the ftc unit is the one to look at, taking the symptoms i've mentioned and everything else we checked seems to be ok.
no just aclass merc`s seem to be fickle normaly depends on which make of ecu and year something to do with communication protacol ecu normaly fav if its pre 2002
