A160 suddenly looses power

Hi my wife has a 99 A160 which despite a few little issues along the way is a great car. However its developed an intermitent fault...

It will suddenly loose power while travelling, and she is unable to accelerate. A F is displayed on the dash and The BAS light shows. However simply turning the engine off and restarting the car solves it. Trouble is its getting more frequent.

Has anyone else had an issue like this or knows how to solve it.

Hi, its done 85,000. its the semi-auto (the one with the auto Clutch)

Ours was a A190 with full auto transmission - F code resulted in the gearbox's controller to be changed.

Otherwise the symptoms were identical - the car would show an F at the transmission gear display and then refuse to move until "rebooted".
