This is my 1st foray on this site and I just want to ask if any one else has had the front shocks spring base plate crack? My A170 failed its MOT because of cracks through both the front shocks. The crack starts in tha base of the casting and propgates up through the inner edge of the spring platform and continues up the central boss of the casting. They were OK this time last year when I had to replace the springs as the Offside spring lost about 60mm from the bottom coil. I have replaced both struts and attach photos of the cracked struts to this posting.
