I have a 1999 A170 CDI Avant Guarde S-A. I have just had the clutch (Clutchless manual operation) and gearbox replaced due to a bearing collapse in the gearbox. Approximately 1000 miles following the repair, noise from the gearbox increasingly worsened. At this time, I returned the car to the garage. They stripped the gearbox down and found worn “dif” gears. Per the garage, they had never seen so much wear for such few miles driven. Repairs were made at this time. After driving approximately 30 miles from collecting the car for the second time, I began to hear a slight whine coming from the gearbox. Notified the garage and the car was returned once again. By this time the clutch began disengaging while I was driving. The car was left again at the garage for repair. While the garage was test driving the car, it broke down and had to be towed to the garage. The current status, per the garage, is the diagnostics are normal and the problem is not with the gearbox and/or clutch, they do not know what the problem is. Can anyone please help regarding this matter?
Maybe if in the garage they only replace the clutch you have always that problem in the future. They have to change apart from the clutch the flywheel.
