Hi there
Unfortunately the mass air flow sensor and engine control module are integrated - so you have to replace both if one fails. There is a picture on Loftys page here:

Bert Rowe's-A-class information.mypage.38.htm

It does look like you can buy a reconditioned unit from BBA-reman.com who will just post out a reconditioned unit to you as long as you then send the old one back - but I'm not sure if they do the programming of the ECM to match your car (which Merc say is necesary).

Have just responded on the duplicate question.
BBA ReMan do not sent out recon units they repair your cars unit and return it ECU/MAFS as with remote key fobs (sold on e-bay and elseware)taken from other cars 'A' Class, will not work with your car they are coded .
please see all the info on my site page 6 & 38 Albert Rowe, Lofty's homepage.index.html

Thanks for clarifying that Lofty - when you click through their web page "Mercedes" "Airflow Meter" "A Class" you are told this:

We send you out a working unit and you send your old unit back after you fit this one. If for any reason we do not receive your old unit back, there would be an additional charge of $150

Searching via the Common Problems link, I found the right page:

Mercedes A Class Air Mass Meter and ECU

Cheers
