Hi everybody,
I have problem with my starter (car 2000 A140). When you switch the key, starter doesn't start at all, no sound. Its enought to switch ignition back and switch it again: engine starts in one or two starter spins. And this problem appeared only when the outside temp. droped below -10Co. Now is about -2Co, but the problem still occurs. I think the problem can be with ingition lock or wiring from ignition to starter (cold, wet :-? broken wire).
Can somebody give advice what should I do, how to check starter if it is not broken?Thank you
Hi McDee,
Generally speaking if the starter is faulty then it will always be faulty. When you turn the key to start and nothing happens with the starter do the dash lights dim? I strongly suspect you have a starter relay fault but explain a bit more what happens to the interior lights when the car fails to start.
Check your battery terminals and then get your starter relay checked I would say.
Hope it helps.
