A140 Transmission Glitch

I have a good friend who drives an A140 but he is having problems with his auto transmission.When he puts the car into drive and hits the juice the car moves slowly forward just as if something is slipping. The stamp on the throttle should give him a pretty rapid acceleration but isn't, any ideas would be appreciated.

When I got my A160 it was doing something similar to this. When you put it in gear the dash would change from D (Drive) to F (which I guess indicates a fault). In my case it was going into like a Limp Home mode, or similar. If this is the case best he takes it to the dealership to get it diagnosed.
