A170 CDI swin arm problems

I've done 145K miles and had both sides replaced, with the near side on the second swing arm (not to mention un-even wear of the rear tyres on the inner surfaces).

Lately, again if that wheel hits a bump at speed it resonates badly, worse still if at speed, back end tries to slide out.

The car is fine aside from this age old problem ... what IS THE REAL CAUSE of this problem ? I notice that there is no damper, just a coiled sping in place. Is this a inherent design in the car ? Faulty parts ?

I can see another battle at the next service / MOT coming up.

Would welcome any other users experiences, and how they may have got round the problem(s), aside from the ultimate fix ... get another car [:D]

RE: A170 CDI swin arm problems

If by damper you mean shock absorber then if you haven't got two then you have lost them?[8)] Both sides have shocks but they lay almost horizontal go to my page 25 that may help you and would I would certainly have these checked if you have kick out at speed .
