Passenger Airbag

Does anyone know if it is possible to disable the passenger airbag in a 2000 A160[?]

I know the car has automatic child car seat recognition which disables the airbag when a Mercedes child car seat is used in the front passenger seat, but we have a non-Mercedes one that we would like to use.

I'm trying to do this too.
If you disconnect the red connector under the passenger seat the Front passenger SRS system is disabled. (Does anyone know if Child seat disables the Belt tensioners as well at the airbags ??)
However a small annoying alarm goes off whenever the Front seat is in position and the connector disconnected. a Plunger switch is made unde the front door-side anchor point of the seat.
So close but so far !! Have two options
1) find the alarm speaker and diconnect it, but what else does it report on ??
2) shorten the plunger switch so that the engaged seat does not make contact (reckon a couple of mm would do !)

both options are a bit drastic.
Anyone any experience or advice ?
Thanks

Acording to my book the tensioners are not disabled if switched at a Merc dealer.

Thanks.
Find it hard to believe that a Merc dealer can do anything for £20 !!
Maybe I will give them a ring. So your passenger SRS is permanently off ? I am hoping that disconnecting the red connector under the passenger seat (is yours connected ?) will allow me to disable when a child seat fitted and enable when I an adult is seated.

Dave,

Did you find a solution to this (disconnecting the airbag in the A160 passenger seat?)? I would like to do exactly the same

Regards,

Brian
