Horible smell in cabin, comming from engine I think
2005 A150. 6 months old, awful smell surrounds the car and in the cabin. Can't pin it down. comes and goes. Merc service guy said it could be the clutch but he could not smell anything when I brought it out to him. Murphys law. Its not really a burning smell as such but its very strong. Checked for toasted cats and birds etc. none.

Has anyone checked the cabin air filter - it could have a dead mouse in it?

My cousin lives in the States, and had a horrible smell; could never find it. Was going to sell the car. She found two prawns from a picnic in below the boot, on the spare tyre.
i lived in south Africa and occatioanlly there would be a horrible smell like a dead animal that came into cars. Because of the hot weather, this was increased. What i found out was that it is the cabin filter and air coming though the airconditioner. basically it is bacteria letting off a smell. and the filters need changing.
