Hello
My mums 2002 A140 (35k, full MB service history) has just been serviced for the second time after only 3200 miles and the damm buzzer comes on with an oil can and HI in the LCD. Anyone have any ideas as the car is fine with no problems according to the garage, just the buzzer. I am not paying for another service or to have the brain reset again so if their is no a simple answer can I disconnect the buzzer?
Thanks

Correct about the possible damages on the cat (mentioned in the manual as well).
On our previous A-class, we once had the same problem. After we noticed that oil-level was indeed near HIGH, so it was not just the sensor we went to dealer we're it had been serviced and they sucked some oil out of it and it was fine ever since.
They said that the sensors are quite sensitive and they come on very quickly (or maybe they were careless when they changed the oil and added too much oil (= most probable).
This is definitely the case with the oil level being too high. My A140 takes a little time for the oil to drop, and therefore each time I take it to a service, I usually have to take it back for them to remove some of the oil.
In my case, there is never any problem with it, the Service guys are usually very friendly and it only takes about 5 minutes once they hoist the car up.
It's definitely NOT worth disconnecting the buzzer, as having the oil too high for long periods creates further problems.
The sump holds 4.5 litres you will find almost certainly that you have been chatrged for 5! any more than 4.5 and as others have said the cat will suffer you could do worse than check the contacts on the sensor which is quite near the drain plug go to my page 46 for details

should get you there. either way take a small amount of oil out and see it if it cures you problem. Strange how MB seem to put in too much oil when they are so tight on every thing else. Do they get work out of it ? I wonder. One things for sure they won't be overfilling my car again not at £460 for a 'B' service with no frills, the dearest car wash I ever had.
there are several other sensors on that page as well burt don't ask me waht they all do!
