New A-Class service frequency

Any owners of the New 05 A class can you throw light on the service frequency, I have been told by MB that it is 2 years, with services A to H.
I have also been told that your service dept. will not be able to tell you which service your car requires until they connect your car to the diagnostics, so they can basically charge you what they like, you will have no way of telling till you get the bill. Is this true??

As I jave read in the manual it says that when it tells you when the service is due, it will tell you what kind of service it will be (A to H).
