I want to know your opinions about the A Class. I have heard that it`s very compact, specially the motor "area" (sorry for my english ), and it is so compact that are special tools designed to "fit" in that very small motor place.
Also, some people says that is a bit hard in the daily use...
I want to know if it is a recomendable buy or not. Thaks!!
Well, I hope you understand my english...
Bye
Rikky
i just got back from england and we rented this car
first off i think it is the best small car ever!
1. lots of room, for both front and back seats...
2. we put 3 large bags in back/trunck
3. regardless of engine size the car is able to do pretty much anything
4. i want this car in the US....

Hi Rikky
I drive a A160/2002 model 'A' Class it's a great car to drive and as the previous members say its very compact, it's higher than the average car, I was very surprised how this helped with the spray of lorry wheels in the wet and you can see so much more when you are driving as well as on the road head.
mine gives me 44-45 to the gallon on a run and the car gives a very comfortable ride, although some owners have problems with steering and drop links.
more details on my site http://homepage.ntlworld.com/albert.rowe from where you can link to other Mercedes 'A' Class sites.

With All Honesty... I Think You Should Wait Until The New Model A Comes Out.. The 1 Generation A Classes Are Bugged With Problems... And I hope That The New Model That's Due Out Will Have Trouble Shot The Whole Car...
I Have Had An A Class For The Last 3 Years And Thou IT's A Beautiful Car To Drive, There Are Many Small Problems That Plague It... Gearbox, Sway bars, Electronics, Rattles Etc Etc....
And If You Do Decide To Get An A Class Opt For The Avantgarde Version As The Quality Inside The Car Is Much Better Than The Rest...
Dont bother. Buy a used 1989-94 E class, low mileage at a quarter of the price or if you crave new, then a new Subi Imprezza at half the price. . I just sold my 190E long, older model, for half of what I paid new. Now back to the comfort of my 1989 300E 4 matic, also bought new. The A class has the worst rear seats in the history of automotive design. After 45 minutes pax want to get out. The suspension is hard and any trip longer than 2 hours is uncomfortable, and tiring. The steering circle is poor. The car is reliable, mine was 100% fault free, and its economical. Touching up scrathes is impossible on the silver metallic, due to the clear laquer sprayed over the paint. Body work is paper thin and any touch with a hard object gives a juicy dent.
