Has anyone else had a problem with the levers on the seats in their A Class? I have a 2001 A160 Avantgarde and one of the levers used to tilt the rear seat snapped off. This was done in the showroom by the salesman, not me! This last weekend the lever used to ratchet up (and down)the driver's seat broke off - it is only held on by a couple of tiny plastic tabs and my wife managed to shear them both off while gently adjusting her seat. Luckily the part was quite cheap (less than five pounds) and by some miracle my dealer had one in stock but I would have thought that these 'load bearing' parts should have been made to last, possibly out of metal.
Any comments?
Yes absolutely!

I took a one year old A160 Avantgarde for a test drive and the passenger side height adjustment lever fell off when touched... I decided to buy the car regardless as the dealer assured me all problems would be fixed, but literally 10 minutes after driving out of the dealership I tried to adjust the driver's side lever and it broke off too.

This was replaced at no charge, of course, but I had a close look at the old and new levers and noticed the design has remained the same. Fancy that, a load bearing part meant to shift 100kg+ is made of plastic! Granted, the height adjustment is not something you'd expect to fiddle with frequently but it was very disappointing none the less.

But the rattles and squeaks in my month and a half old car..... that's another story.....
