Front license plate mount

What options are there for mounting a front plate on the new ML without drilling any holes in chrome or paint? I am not sure how the factory units goes on, but I assume it is bolted thru the front chrome bumper. I just hate to have the dealership do any unnecessary drilling.

I will check the mounting Monday - interesting question - I will pull the factory mount included with the vehicle - we don't use front plates in my state except for vanity/country-club etc.

I think the attachment will be on the plastic grill below the bumper.

Keep the faith !

And the answer is.... the plastic front plate mount (included with every ML car) yes, gets mounted on the lower plastic middle grill - covers the lower center chrome - for a vanity or ID plate it will be a bit lower in pesepctive than old school.

Keep the beat !

Thanks for the info. I found a mount that goes in the tow hook hole in the front end but that is off center. I prefer a center mount, but the car isn't due until April so I have time to find what I need.

I live in California and it is also required by law to have a front mounted plate here. I also personally hate having the front bumper drilled and I also hate how the front plate takes away from the design of the car. So to be honest I did some research and found out that it is only a 25 dollar fine if you dont have a front plate on the car. So all my cars have no front plate and knock on wood it has been that way for quite a number of years and I have yet to receive any fines

For most application here in the US, front plate is used for access to gated communities, country clubs, etc... or for a vanity plate statement.

German plate

Can anyone assist in mounting a German Plate on the front of my 2012 ML350?

Well, I think you have a warped perspective because of where you live. Actually, only 20 of the 52 states do not require both front and rear plates. I've lived with not having front plates here in Oregon and finally gave it up. Many jurisdictions here, in California and elsewhere write expensive parking tickets for no front plate. It also gives law enforcement a legitimate reason to pull you over any time. I finally gave up and am using tow hook-mounted plates on my two cars.

Do you really want to disclose your license plate to all us stable humans?

There is software that can blur it.
