First time I have owned a diesel & enjoy it very much. Question is what and when do you add fluid or Blue stuff to the cap next to the diesel ?
What is the intent of that additive etc...
Plenty on that-- Google: "SCR" and you will see that all modern diesel trucks utilize SCR technology to meet NOx standards. It's a great system because it enables engineers to tune diesel engines to achieve maximum power. The DEF tank holds enough fluid to get the vehicle through to the next 10k service interval.
Thank you. Assume the service console or message center will alert me to when that is close to empty. I bought my 2014 from a small re-sale place not a MB dealer. Had it inspected by my auto mechanic Christian Brothers and forget to ask them.
Thanks again
If I remember correctly, once you get a warning you only get about 3 more starts before the system disables the vehicle to prevent it from destroying the globe...
Keep adblue tank full all the time, every oil change, do oil change no later than 5K, OM642 likes fresh oil good lubrication.
Change engine filter every 20K, not 40 as book recommends. This engine need fresh air. There's a TSB about air filter.
Good luck.
Thanks, just trying to make sure the suggestion you made was crystal clear.
