This year I changed tires. A TPMS was damaged and replaced during the process. It didn't register and so I got the "TPMS sensor inoperative" message. 3 visits to Midas and 6h later it still didn't work.
Took it to Burdi Motorworks in Schiller Park IL (a Mercedes specialist, fully MB trained, equipped, about 1/2 the cost of dealership). They replaced the TPMS for a fee that appeared to be a mistake after getting used to dealership prices.
3 months later after inflating my tires one goes flat. Different one. Out of convenience I go to Midas again. TPMS replaced due to crack. Same problem. 3 visits, 4h later "we tried our best", $200 wasted.
Again, Burdi Motorworks (much further from me) fixed it correctly, 1st time, for less.
I couldn't be happier.
Their rates for A and B services are about 1/2 of dealership. But to be fair, the dealership has much better coffee.
So, please ensure your TPMS isn't just working, but working with your antenna/SAM system. The correct brand was the German Wurth brand.
Hope this helps you.
