Enter your VIN and run a datacard. Datacard will include engine serial number.

You'll never be able to see it as the engine is installed in your car.

In case you thought you needed this to order parts, well, having entered your VIN in EPC, that system will indicate the correct parts for your specific car.

Thanks Chris. Is there any where I can even get a list of all the DTC codes that can show up in the error memory?

cmitch gave below on a different matter. It is great!

Run your VIN through THIS site:

Mercedes-Benz Club Russia | Mercedes-Benz / VIN

The long version of the VIN decoder will tell you your engine serial number.

M272 engine number is on the rear right side of the block by the trans.
You can only see it from the bottom on the W164.

This is an incredible tool. Thanks! However, it's not letting me enter my VIN. Comes up "Invalid Model\Model designation". Any idea what I am doing wrong?

Thanks
