Steel Grey

I just bought a 2010 ML 350 in Steel Grey. My wife and I have been debating what it looks like as I don't understand why it's called "grey." To me, it looks like some shade of blue, but she insists it's grey and appropriately named. Am I color blind??

No you are not color blind. I too have a new ML550 steel Gray. It does look bluish in some light and silver in others. I think though it looks dark gray much of the time. I love the color.

Congrats, awesome color. I had a 2002 Audi A4 in "Dolphin Gray" and though it didn't look blue, it definately had some two tone gray colors going on. I really like this color, especially the ML Steel Gray (which by the way steel gray/steel blu is kinda close) and I love the Meteor Gray of the Audi S cars.

I wonder if this new Steel Grey is what Mercedes used to call Flint Gray Metallic? My 2008 E350 Sport was Flint Grey...and I almost never say grey in the colour. It was like an odd blue metallic. I loved it, but I never considered it grey. Here's a pic of my '08 E-Class:

Do not believe its the same color. I think in addition to some other differences Steel Gray is a bit darker

MBUSA changes names of standard Mercedes colors to "suit" the USA market.

Sometimes the change verges on misleading, for example my "Desert Silver" GL color was called "Travertine Beige" in rest of world markets. It's kind of light gold IMHO but certainly is nothing like "silver."

Why not configure an ML at the UK website http://www2.mercedes-benz.co.uk/cont...?isflipfocus=1) where I bet this color (Steel Grey) is called "Lazurite Blue."
