Recommand any service/repair shops in Chicago area?
Hi, does anyone on this board take their w164 to a trusted service/repair shop for servicing other than the "stealer" within the Chicagoland area? My service light just came on and I want to see if there's an alternative to consider. Taking it back to the dealership will most likely cost me an arm and a leg for work that some other reputable shop could probably do at half the price. Any feedback would be appreciated.
What service are you trying to do? If it's just an oil change, any shop can do that....based on my previous research, the services are really nothing more than a glorified oil change.
As I mentioned before, my friend is an excellent mechanic and lives your way....he mostly works on Audi A8's/S8's....but depending on what you need, he might be able to help.
Or there is always welcome to chicago performance & tuning - your european performance specialists, he works on Audi's, Porche's and has repaired my friend's G500 a few times, I always see MB's in there also. He use to be an Audi tech at Laurel. Al is the owner's name. Tell him I sent you, he might charge you double!

Thanks for the suggestion. My service D notification came up and when I entered into the system menu on the MFD, it came back with a whole list of services required but I don't really trust it. It probably only needs an oil change since the dealer already performed service B when I took delivery about a year ago as a CPO.
