What does service C include on 2006 ML 500? Simple oil change? The dealer just update the engine and transmission software a week ago and replace couple of stuff like bulbs and some more. Should I just ask them to do oil change instead of paying the "stealer" for the "checks" and "inspects". Thanks.

Service A & B are just an oil service for the most part. C, D and E are more in-depth services (and of course a lot more money).
My 2008 ML63 with 2700 miles (had her 3 months now) just had the Service A light come on. I knew it had to be wrong. The dealership said no way do I need an A Service, so they re-set the light. Now it says C Service due in 10,000 miles. When they re-set the light they skipped my A & B Service. I called them, and they said just ignore it, it does not matter. It annoys me that I'm counting down to a C Service, when I've never even had an A or B Service. Should I just ignore it, or demand/request they re-set it to show A Service due in 10000 miles?
Ignore it. If you use the factory service intervals they are at 10K miles anyway. It's simple enough to look in the manual to see what is required based on your odometer and the service center should certainly know what to do. They can correct it next time via the diagnostics if it really bothers you.
That C service warning coming on every time would bug me to no end.
I would have the dealer repair the system.
It's a brand new expensive car. It sould be perfect.
Zak,
I don't think he is saying it comes on everytime he starts the car, just that when he looks at that particular menu it is not correct. It would bug me too if it came up every time. For something like that I don't have the time or gas money to drive to the dealer and drop the car off.

Yeah, exactly. I am not getting a warning everytime I start the car, just when I scroll thru the many menus via the steering wheel keys, do I see Service C in 10,000 miles (now saying 9900 miles If it warned me upon every start up, I would make the time to go to the dealership! Today, I called the dealership where I bought the ML from, and they told me also to 100% ignore the A, B, C, D.... service reminders, and to just go by the mileage.
I called the "stealer" yesterday to find out what included in Service C. They told me it covers oil, oil filter, check tire pressure, tire balance, lubricate chasis, top off all fluid, inspect breaks. It comes down to only oil change is the most important part. Price is ridiculous. $89 for oil change, $550 for Service C. Should i bite the bullet and have them do theirs "inspects" and "checks". I drive 3 BMWs (X5, 530i, 645i) and I know how "stealers" trick you into expensive services. Unfortunately, the wife likes the ML. I also check the manual 39K miles services is oild change and tire pressure, balance checks. Thanks.
