First drive '08 ML320CDI, impressioins so far
Have a couple of days now in the new 08 ML320CDI... This is a White/Ash P2 4-matic, voice, running boards, I-pod, trailer hitch, 6 cd changer, heating package. Our commutes are 100 miles round trip down and back up the west side of Pikes Peak where we live. Power seems decent but haven't hammered it by any means since it is still under 1000 miles... Seems to pull pretty well though on the mountain passes. MPG's are steadily climbing and we've hit as high as 44 on the highway coming down the mountain although some of that is gravity working for us... Bi-Xenons are so much better than Halogens, and the corner illuminating fogs are a nice feature as we drive a remote wooded mountain road at night where we live... Still suprised how little bass the HK Stereo puts out even with a sub in the back... No pics yet but will try to get some even though it's currently stock and nothing special to look at yet... Needs front door window tint, 20's and maybe some small other mods but nothing major planned as it's the wife's main ride...
The CDI is great. I am constantly impressed by the torque and fuel mileage. I've got 6k miles on mine, and the engine seems to rev more freely than it did when new. Fuel mileage is also improving.
As for the lack of bass from the HK system, I ported my subwoofer, which made a big difference.
I'm upto about 15,000 on my 2008 ML and starting to see big mileage gains. 25 in mixed traffic freeway and 33 on open highway. 40+ mpg is just a downhill advantage, not the norm. It's countered by 10 mpg up the same hill...
I thought the base was great, but I'm by know means an audiophile. I absolutely love my 320 ML and will pick-up an 09' soon. I'm sold on Mercedes. Great vehicles. But I'm not looking for a mixed sport SUV. It's just not feasible with current technology. I'm looking for a luxury 4X4 that can be used as a people mover and carry large amounts of stuff from the store. I'll stick to the sports car for curve carving fun.

???? Ported the Sub... sorry could you translate that for us musically challenged?
