I was looking at ordering a new ML350 so I tried the configurator on MBUSA.com but it wouldn't let me get real leather and the Heating Package, so I looked in the brochure and it said the same thing. Why can't you get full leather and Heated Package on the new ML?
Because the Rocket Scientists at MBUSA include a wood wheel with the leather option. Wood wheel = no heated steering wheel. I wanted leather on my '08 ML320, but because I frequently drive in cold climates, I wanted the heated steering wheel, so I ordered the heating package with with MB-Tex.
Now that I've had it for a while, I actually like the MB-Tex. It is very easy to clean, and the only down side is no leather smell.
Do you think you like the MBTex more than leather? I'm debating whether or not to order leather on the next one. I think I can still get heated driver and front passenger seats with the leather option.

Yes, I actually prefer it over leather. I don't miss conditioning the leather monthly, and it seems to breathe better on hot days. Plus, the leather in most current M-B's is not as good as the leather in older M-B's.
A business associate rode in my 320 a few weeks ago, and without me telling him, commented on how nice the "leather" was. He drives a Lexus GX470, which has soft leather comparable to AMG cars, or BMW's Nappa leather. When I told him the the 320 had MB-Tex, he couldn't believe it.

As you weigh your options, you might want to consider this open NHTSA investigation on the ML350 and ML500 seat warmers:
