Not good, I'm guessing. Tonight I got into my ML500 and I noticed an unusual whining/grinding kind of sound--especially when I backed out of the garage and turned the wheel as I got on the street. It got louder as I turned the corner, so I turned around and put it back in the garage. Any guesses? I know I'm a woman and not supposed to know these things, but wouldn't a power steering fluid motor sound like that? Calling the dealership in the morning when they open!
The power steering system (leaking reservoir, etc.) in the ML is a known problem area. Expect to have some warranty repairs done. Mine was done at 39K at it still works correctly and quietly at 44K.
